The Little Food Festival is Australia’s first food festival created especially for kids. A free community event, it promotes health, wellbeing and sustainability education, focused on the food system.
The Little Food Festival is a celebration of possibility – two vibrant days of hands-on activities to spark curiosity and excitement about the entire food system.
From the soil where food is grown to the tables where it’s shared, we showcase the magic of food and the role we all play in shaping a sustainable future.
Early childhood experiences are pivotal to how kids see the world and the choices they make. By helping them understand the connections between food, health, and the environment we’re planting the seeds for lifelong habits.
When kids fall in love with the magic of food – how it’s grown, prepared and shared – they grow up ready to care for it, protect it, and champion it.
The Little Food Festival empowers the next generation to imagine a brighter future, where people and planet can thrive.
We partner with like-minded organisations to deliver engaging, educational activations and stage performances that spark curiosity and inspire a lifelong love for food and sustainability.
Plant a seedling with Bunnings, experience the day in the life of an OzHarvest Food Rescue Driver, create your own bocconcini skewer, learn about the role of food in brain health, get up close to a wiggly worm farm and more! There is so much to do and see at the Little Food Festival.
Message from Nicholas Reece,
Lord Mayor of Melbourne
The Little Food Festival puts kids at the centre of healthy eating through fun activities in the city. A free community event, the festival helps our youngest cooks and growers make better choices about what to plant, cook and eat – choices that in time will guide them to prepare healthy meals while also understanding the need to reduce global consumption.
The City of Melbourne is a proud supporter of the Little Food Festival. We invite you to join us to plant seedlings and get to work on nutritious meals, all while having a great deal of fun.
On behalf of the City of Melbourne, I congratulate the organisers and wish everyone a terrific day.
